The analysis of 2D and 1D protein gel electrophoresis represents one of the most common approaches to discover new cancer biomarkers in proteomics. Using distinct experimental designs, specific proteins can be studied and new targets having clinical potential can be found. pLIMS is a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) linked to a relational database, which stores and assist researchers to manage and to analyze proteomic experiments using 2D and 1D protein gel electrophoresis.
